but

Is the state becoming..

“SATAN’S OWN COUNTRY “ ?

( really a pathetic scene politically and socially , at present )

Kerala is a small state but “happening” state. ( A SMALL NARROW STRIP OF LAND IN THE MAP OF INDIA )full of intelligent  and creative people ,but…

There are good things happening here and but more and more bad things are happening throughout the state .The social fabric of any state is very fragile when the political will fails to support it strongly .The economy of Kerala depends entirely upon the money flow from “malayalees” living abroad .In fact their “sweat” flows into the banks of the state . Is it a BIG BUBBLE !! which could burst any time ...

This is a state where one cannot see a typical village as you can see in other states in India .There are not many industrial units here ,there is not much agricultural activity here which can make the state self sufficient .The economy of Kerala is a puzzle and no economist can easily analyze it and give a satisfactory answer the real working of the economy of the state. There is so much money ( a parallel economy is flourishing in this small state!!).Who are the beneficiaries and who are the victims ?

n this small state ( where there are no big business houses ) there are showrooms of all brands of luxurious cars, and many shops with which stock leading brands from all over the world. There are huge branded jewelry showrooms and textile showrooms in all big cities and small towns of Kerala and all over them have good business. Love for the yellow metal has crossed all limits. The desire to live LUXURIOUS life is spreading fast and many of the crimes are committed to satisfy this desire . Where is the state headed to, politically and socially?

But the other side is that the state has been witnessing and experiencing things which are terrible, unbearable, unbelievable, disgusting and hopeless. Political situation is at its lowest ebb in this highly literate state. Literacy alone never imparts the benefits of education. Education is the holistic development of the person which will make him or her a better citizen.but if one read the newspapers ,one gets shocking news everyday :rapes, frauds, ,murders, abuses of children and you imagine any crime it is here in plenty. 

It is too much to bear in  a small state like Kerala which is a beautiful state in terms of the natural gifts the state has got . In fact one can call Kerala state  , the biggest and most beautiful  garden in the world . But all these come to nothing when there is complete lack of peace in all areas.

Kerala is a NEWS HUNGRY state and it has many  MEDIA channels devoted to news alone .Every channel wishes to have a scoop everyday( very natural in the field of media ) .Positive news items are few and these things are sidelined in single or double columns as short pieces as the media feels that the readers want hot sensational news : the adultery of committed by prominent political leaders, sexual exploits of politicians and government employees, frauds involving thousands of crores of rupees .Even today there is a report of a fraud to the tune of 400 crores of rupee .”Politics is the entertainment branch of industry”

The present government and the opposition are now fighting with each other  in cases related to  FRAUDS in the SOLAR panel issues. The specialty of the recent negative news items that appear in papers in Kerala is that more women are involved in these cases directly and indirectly. Something has really gone wrong in Kerala which needs immediate attention. otherwise the state will fall back in development .The morale of the whole state is eroding ..with a ll the negatives around.

Kerala has the potential to develop into  one of the best states in India and it could really be  GOD’S OWN COUNTRY provided there is POLITICAL will to correct things  at the MICRO and MACRO level. A few number of people who are extremely selfish are out to destroy the state and are acting as obstacles to its growth in the right direction.

 Any malayalee who lives outside Kerala for working, doing business or in politics are generally considered very responsible and very efficient .But when they are in their own state the character and the attitude is entirely different .Keralites are hardworking, intelligent and are capable of adapting but all these things happen when they are outside the state .Kerala has tremendous strength to grow into a role model for other states in terms of ideas and creative talents .but all have to be channeled in the right direction. 

There is still hope …for a better tomorrow provided the new generation think and act differently in a very healthy way with a long term perspective and vision.

It is very sad to see the state in such a state of utter frustration and confusion ,politically and socially at the micro and macro levels.

Let the People who live in Kerala ,both politicians and the public think and act in the right direction so that the state can really be called GOD’S OWN COUNTRY with GOD’S OWN CHILDREN.

IAF drops Tendulkar

Tendulkar loses his wicket in the “IAF brand game ..“Did IAF…drop a precious catch…?

The man ( or God ! of  Indian cricket ) lost his wicket on a sticky wicket and has been clean bowled by Indian Air Force because IAF discovered ( to their horror, to their dismay ,or whatever it may be) that Sachin has lost his force or steam to inspire the youth of this country to join IAF. 

Nothing wrong because business is business and there is no place for sentiments in business. Perhaps the channels have received a  very powerful news ( though not palatable ) for their Breaking news category.

 The IAF has replaced Sachin with a basic trainer aircraft Pilatus He was conferred the title of GROUP CAPTAIN in IAF with the hope of inspiring youngsters to join IAF. But now IAF suddenly discovered that the Little master is no more the role model of young Indians to get sufficiently inspired. It is great personal setback for a great cricketer . The irony is that he could not be a successful captain in Indian Cricket and he could not ,unfortunately succeed in an entirely different field , as group Captain( in IAF), also .

None knows whether the IAF conducted some market research to find out whether Sachin could inspire young Indians to join IAF if he is made as a brand ambassador of IAF. But IAF should have organized some nationwide programmes with him before dropping him out of the “game” The news of this setback to Sachin comes to us when we are still celebrating the fantastic show of Captain Cool  Dhoni who is all over the media in all our hearts as the best Cricket captain Indian Cricket has ever seen. But please remember that a section of media and public tried to blame him for failure,sometime back.

Fame is very flimsy and very short . He was the first sportsperson to be conferred a rank by IAF and the first personality with no aviation background to receive the honour. But  ,just as he is the “first” in many fields ,he is also the “first” non AVIATION PERSONALITY whose rank of Group captain was withdrawn.. A new brand , Pilatus ( warplanes) , has been “appointed “ as the new brand ambassador of IAF. We can only wish all the best for the new brand ambassador

 Nobody is indispensable and so is Sachin .But  the trait of greatness remains with him 

and none can take it away. A king is always a king even if somebody snatches away the 

crown from his head. History is full of such incidents and the beauty of history is that 

"history always repeats!!"Those who conferred have the right to take it away also .

It should be Business as usual .. life should go on..,

The  ruling by  the Supreme court restricting people with CRIMINAL records from contesting elections and sitting in Assemblies and the parliament is really commendable. The ailing Indian democracy will gain strength and we can hope for a more healthy political environment .What a relief indeed to learn that people with absolute lack of conscience will not be ruling us. the rule breakers becoming rule makers is indeed painful. This a landmark judgment and all sections of society will welcome it as a refreshing change in the present scenario .

Even after more than sixty years after independence we have not been able to make a positive change in the political system.yhe standards of public life has gone down to that level and we have lost our sense of shame. our assemblies and parliament are contaminated with people with criminal background: corruption of all sorts, rape, swindling , murder ,cheating, treachery and what not.. you name any crime and you can find a representation in our assemblies and parliament .There is absolute lack of discipline amongst our rulers and public at large

The two big parties in India fight for survival and are ready to play any game ,fair or foul ,more often the latter. The fight brings in the idea for a third front which is a possibility but may never happen because of complete lack of trust and understanding between the parties involved for ideological reasons or the lack of it ,more often the latter.

 In all four parts of the whole India ,the North,  south  the  East and the West and of course the Central India,  politicians have criminal background ,the latest being one minister who got arrested for Sodomy, another MLA and his son got trapped for alleged involvement in sex  (by consent !! it is said !!) with the same woman.  What  a kind of degradation in the political arena of India!.Just take a list of the controversial issues that still burns .. the coal ( coalgate ) Spectrum ( all G’s )IPL from the beginning.THE LIST IS ENDLESS...

A new movement against corruption was started by Sri Anna Hazare and it really brought in a whiff of fresh air but got into controversy but still there is some hope. Out of the movement against corruption was born a political party AAM  AADMI and Kejriwal is trying his best to consolidate it .

But all said and done India has an inherent strength which will make us get over these and we can hope for the best …but when is it going to happen .. it is a million dollar question..perhaps  the courts ruling against criminalization of politics is really a welcome and refreshing and it may bring in tangible changes in the mindset of the country’s politicians .

LET ALL OF US CONDEMN ALL BAD THINGS IN POLITICS ….Now Corruption is taken  for granted, elections and matches are FIXED ,Religion is being exploited ,women are being raped and treated as a commodity to be used and abused ..LET US FIGHT AGAINST ALL THESE and we ,as proud Indians ,have the power to change things  …let us implement our POLITICAL WILL to create a free India  free from all these stinking things and make India a beautiful country for the future generations .

We should thank and applaud Advocate Lilly Thomas aged 85 years ( still young at heart at this age ) who is the petitioner and who fought relentlessly for this case .

 She said “I will be happy if my humble attempt can help the government to prevent the Government to keep out CRIMINALS from POLITICS “

Breaking News

These two words are now the most important two words in all channels in the TV all over India ,both in the local and national channels. Everyday ,every hour ,every minute and every second something happens ,and the scrolls moving below bring out news which have most of the  time negative and frustrating content .

The channels feed on sensational news ,small or big and blow everything out of proportion .The passive news that scrolls at the bottom migrate into the main screen with newsreaders mouthing  with supposed objectivity ( this is only a myth in modern journalism).The VIPS’ of scams ,rapists, swindlers, criminals of all sorts appear on the screen with smiles and it seems that they are mocking at all of us with contempt .

We sit in front of the TV (called idiot box )and see them waving hands at us ,sometimes with a v sign !! If it was a great honour to court arrest during the independence struggle now it seems that every criminal (many of them idols  or icons who fall down)who gets exposed take it as a happy trip to jail.

It is a pity that people are fed with such news regularly with such importance and the channels celebrates every such occasion. Once BIG BREAK  is flashed ( Now every news is a flash news )  it will be followed by several faces appearing on the TV and comment upon it one jumping over the other with the moderator turning his head and strains all his facial muscles to control the participants in the discussion.

Manohar  Parrikar GOA C M  said “I don’t watch TV too much I see it only at night to see if there is some breaking news.”       Media now survives and sustains on Sensationalism .Something bad  THINGS get noticed and blowing them out of all  proportion may give  a chance of getting more TRP !!.

Channels vie with each other for scoops .. no problem .. but …can’t there be some restraint …? Most of the issues are swept under the carpet as dirt and we may never see the issues again and we may have spent watching it several hours .. But who cares for the time of the ordinary people.

Kerala is a typical example of a NEWS hungry state and keralites live on news and controversies on every day. There are many channels in this state and many of them are exclusive news channels .The hobby of thousands of malayalees is to watch the same news in different channels and compare them switching form one to the other . There was even a film with this title (Breaking News)in Malayalam
